“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”
I have a vast amount of experience in the helping profession. Prior to my decision to pursue my Masters of Social Work, I worked with families involved with social services and probation. Through this experience, I recognized that families often need additional guidance and support to help navigate these stressful and overwhelming chapters in their lives. The progress they made when they received services was inspiring. This work fueled my desire to want to do more to support individuals and families with their mental health, and I commenced my graduate studies.
Throughout my work, I have had the privilege of working with individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. In addition, I have worked at a community mental health facility working with children and families impacted by mental health. During my time in community mental health, I worked with children with a variety of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, trauma, and those in the foster care and adoption system. In addition, I taught a parenting curriculum specifically focused on the needs of children who experienced trauma, foster care, and adoption.
Currently, I work with children and adolescents within the school system that are struggling with their mental health. While the settings I have worked in have varied quite a bit, one common denominator remains the same: having a support system is a valuable tool in the healing process. I have felt honored to be a part of that support system.
My work with clients is an eclectic approach with a combination of interventions I have gained throughout training. My training includes Adoption and Permanency Curriculum, Pathways to Permanence, Seeking Safety, Positive Discipline. In addition, I am trained in various modalities including Parent-Child Interactive Therapy Basic Training, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Please note, these resources are not a substitute for therapy. If you are in an immediate mental health crisis, contact one of the numbers above or go to your nearest emergency room.
